    Did You Know?

    • ACTA currently provides door-to-door service, and a convenient Southern Alamance route?
    • ACTA connects with PART for daily services to Chapel Hill.
    • ACTA operates 27 vehicles, and all but 3 vans are equipped with lifts for special needs as well as the general public.
    • ACTA drivers are each CDL certified and trained in First Aid and CPR.
    • ACTA was established in 2002 by Alamance County Board of Commissioners.  An independent Board of Trustees overseed ACTA.
    • ACTA operates via state and federal annual grant programs with a required local 10% match funding from Alamance County.
    • ACTA provides over 60,000 passenger trips each year, including Friendship Adult Day Services, and Community Services Meal sites.

    ADA Policy Statement

    This policy is written to establish operating and service guidelines and procedures for the implementation of the requirements of the American with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), the U.S. Department of Transportation regulations for implementing ADA (49 CFR Parts 27, 37 and 38), and applicable North Carolina laws and regulations.   All services operated by the Alamance County Transportation Authority (hereinafter referred to as ACTA) are operated on a non-fixed route basis and the system complies with ADA requirements with respect to such services.

    PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE 

    Section 5311 (ADTAP), 5310, 5339, 5307 and applicable State funding, or combination thereof.

     This is to inform the public that a public hearing will be held on the proposed Alamance County Transportation Authority Community Transportation Program Application to be submitted to the North Carolina Department of Transportation no later than October 2nd, 2026. The public hearing will be held on August 19, 2026 at 3 pm before the (governing board) Alamance County Transportation Authority Board of Trustees.

    Those interested in attending the public hearing and needing either auxiliary aids and services under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) or a language translator should contact Peter Murphy on or before August 17th, 2026, at telephone number 336-222-0565 or via email at exec@acta-nc.com.

    The Community Transportation Program provides assistance to coordinate existing transportation programs operating in Alamance County as well as provides transportation options and services for the communities within this service area. These services are currently provided using vans. Services are rendered by Alamance County Transportation Authority.

    The total estimated amount requested for the period July 1, 2027 through June 30, 2028.

    NOTE: Local share amount is subject to State funding availability.
